Verification of Builds to Product Specifications

Inventory Management and Asset Tags

Administrators and IT support staff need to know what assets exist in their current inventory and where each item is located. Equipment can be moved, in-service, deleted, or misplaced, which can wreak havoc on record-keeping. To solve this problem, Virtucom utilizes asset tags with serial numbers or bar codes. These tags remain affixed and readable for the life of each asset. This detailed system provides up-to-date record keeping about your school’s property, allowing you even track new equipment purchases and service periods in an organized fashion.

Off-Site Storage/Staging

Schools need secure, easy access to their data in the unfortunate event of natural disasters, service interruption or other security threats. Virtucom can make sure your technology is up and running if the unexpected happens. As part of your disaster recovery plan, we’ll transfer data at regularly scheduled intervals to an off-site center or remote location. This data storage process is secure, reliable and cost effective.

We also offer disk staging, a temporary step before the data is copied to tape. This process is referred to as D2D2T (disk-to-disk-to-tape).

Benefits of D2D2T include:

• Servers can be backed up at the same time
• During backup to disk, data is available and can be restored
• The combination of disks and tape as storage is more reliable than either single media type alone
• Disk backups can be RAID protected

Data Migration/User-Level Customization

Upgrading your school database or system software? A key consideration is whether to import data that is not compatible with the new system. Virtucom can help you with this decision. We’ll then transfer relevant data from the old system to the new in the most automated way possible.

Data migration can also be employed to store little-used, or historic data off-line onto magnetic tape or other backup storage methods for periodic access as needed.
